Bio: ilver Dollar came together in early 2007 with the goal of keeping the roots and culture of Ska both alive and firmly planted in the tri-state scene. At a time when quality is often sacrificed for quantity, they work to perfect the sounds of 60’s Jamaica while also perfecting and pushing their individual abilities. Bringing Ska, Jazz and Soul together with R&B, Gospel and their many individual influences, the end result has been described as a “Monster” sound that comes out swinging and doesn’t let up.
Silver Dollar features members and ex-members of Inspecter 7, The Hub City Stompers, The Brimstones, The Creatures of the Golden Dawn, Pan Opticon, Taste of Coffee, Power of Soul and more. Its members are also active DJs, Record Collectors, Activists, Scooterists, long time supporters of the local music scene and active in the community with Bassist Larry Wiggins playing weekly at the Sharon Baptist Church in New Brunswick, NJ.
Whether at the local Scooter Rally, sweaty Punk Club or in the Jazz setting Silver Dollar push themselves to deliver a sound that moves both the soul and body and continue to remind everyone exactly where the music came from. If you are not dancing, you are not listening.
