Album Reviews.
Reviewer: Allon (wheresmycdplayer)

Artist/band: Tiger Army
Name of album: Music From Regions Beyond

Date/year of release: 6/5/07
Label affiliation: Hellcat/Epitaph
Favorite track, and why: "Forever Fades Away" - Beautiful
melodies, but still powerful enough to rock out to. Like him or not,
longtime friend of the band Davey Havok's guest vocals on this song
really help it along. However, it's more of an alt. rock song than
anything else. You can barely make out the upright bass. "Afterworld"
is my favorite of the psychobilly songs on this record.
Least favorite track, and why: "Hechizo de Amor" - Meaning
"spell of love", this folky spanish love song is sung entirely in the
native language and isn't terrible, but it kinda throws off the rhythm
of the record.
How does this album compare to other albums by the same
artist/band: It's shorter, with only eleven tracks, but every song
is different. The prelude (Signal Return) is pure punk rock, there are
a few psychobilly staples (Lunatone,Ghosts of Memory, etc.), the
standard country-esque song like on every record (Where the Moss
Slowly Grows), a spanish song (Hechizo de Amor), and some new-wavey
stuff thrown in for good measure. (As the Cold Rain Falls)
Other notes: Tiger Army Never Die! They finally put out a new
record after four years. With a new lineup and a more diverse sound,
this one will be the one that exposes them to a whole new
audience.
